Crime Scene Checklist

This article provides a basic checklist to make sure you have done everything required to configure a complex crime scene scenario. Visit the Crime Scene Toolkit to read more.

  • Add a new scenario
  • Set the scenario overview:
    • Title provided
    • Description (with learning objectives and expectations) set
    • Photos, Videos and Files have been uploaded (optional)
    • After you have added tasks, you have restricted media to specific tasks (optional)
  • Set scenario scoring:
    • Turn on/off points and time limits
    • Set points and time limits if you wish to change them (optional)
    • Add advanced scoring (optional)
  • Add your tasks:
    • In advanced options, in Task Setup, add all the tasks using the templates you require
    • Select an initial task to start the scenario
    • Ensure all tasks are set to Manual (not automatic)
    • Add conditions for each task (if you wish to control the flow)
      • Prevent return to this task
      • Conditions include ‘All of’ the previous task in the flow
    • Add at least one activator to each Task (other than the initial task)
  • Add content for each task:
    • Use Bulk Add to quickly add questions, outcomes, or similar if required, or add them individually
    • Add impacts to each question or outcome if you wish (optional)
    • Mark each question, evidence item or outcome as right or wrong if you wish (optional)
    • Add feedback for items if needed (optional)
    • Add description and results/facts/answers to each item if needed (optional)
    • Add media to answers (video, files or images) if needed (optional)
    • Set conditions on items if you want them to appear after or before other items, or only when scoring is in a certain condition (optional)
    • Set advanced settings (particularly for outputs) such as open text answer, video response, or similar, and set each item to be autos-elected and/or searched (optional)
    • Repeat actions for each task in the scenario
  • Setup hints
    • Enable or disable hints as needed
    • If enabled, set the impact and conditions for hints (optional)
  • Revisit the scenario overview and set limits on what media appears depending on task (optional)
  • Configure optional settings
    • Assessment: limit assessment related options (optional)
    • Access: enable/disable anonymous, signed in and/or allocated access to the scenario as needed (optional)
    • Set device restrictions – disable mobile access
    • Add any pre/post content you require (optional)
  • Prepare to test
    • Activate the scenario
    • Visit https://go.resimion.com and use the code to test the scenario works
  • Allocate the scenario to students, when ready (optional)
    • On the dashboard click ‘Allocate’
    • Select the students to allocate the scenario to
    • Click Allocate
  • Once the scenario has finished, click ‘Close’ to close the scenario on the dashboard
  • Proceed to the Marking Centre to mark the assessment (optional)
